Helen and John gaze proudly at their new offspring, too polite to check the sex. They decide that the child is a girl and name her Daisy - which leads to all manner of future emotional and personality problems when it turns out that Daisy is actually a boy! Christopher Durang's satirical black comedy follows Daisy's struggle to establish his identity despite his father's diminishing grip on reality and his mother's addiction to Nite Nurse and Vicks inhalers, a strange obsession with buses, and being cared for by a 'cracked Mary Poppins' of a nanny.
