Appetite archiveThe beautifully evocative landscape of mountainous Bavaria provides the setting for this fascinating play. In the architectural splendour of a Gothic castle we meet four extraordinary characters, drawn to this exotic location for very different reasons. A hard-working physiotherapist goes there for a break from what she regards as a hum-drum existence; she is followed by her loving, but confused, partner. Another Englishman is already there, although it is hard to tell if he is working in the capacity of a domestic employee or a detective. Mystery abounds. At the centre of it all is Friedrich, the charismatic descendant of a powerful aristocratic dynasty, whose charms, views and foibles have a strong influence in disparate ways, on the other three. He is the key to how the appetite of the title can be satisfied.
