At the age of 17 Leonard Lands is an outstandingly gifted pianist, but it soon becomes clear that he has to leave the family's Cape Town home to study in Europe to fulfil his potential. As the action moves forward from the fifties to the eighties, we find Leonard in London, reaching another turning point in his life.
