Details
Three one-act plays about women in crisis:
The Dark Room - An Italian mother (Mrs Pocciotti), a welfare officer (Miss Morgan) and a fifteen-year-old girl hiding in 'the dark room.
The Lady of Larkspur Lotion - Set in a run-down rooming house in New Orleans. The central character (Mrs Hardwicke-Moore) is a delusional heroine, who like Blanche Dubois, holds on to respectability through an imaginary past, sharing the moment with a failed writer who clings to his own fantasy of literary world renown.
The One Exception - Williams was haunted by the unquiet ghost of the playwright's mentally ill sister, Rose, who was lobotomised and institutionalised against her will. In this play, Williams hauntingly depicts a mentally ill woman (Kyra), her devoted caretaker (May) and a callous, fair-weather friend (Viola).
