A Natural Distance archiveThe play explores race and identity. Pamela is a mixed race single parent living in a dilapidated council flat, while Earl, her boyfriend, is in prison. She struggles with parenthood in the shadow of her parents' turbulent marriage, which left her mother bitter and tainted with racism. On the eve of Earl's release from prison Pamela's mother's attempts to win back her daughter's affection goes badly wrong, triggering a sequence of unforeseen and tragic consequences.
