A Fete Worse Than Death archiveLittle Dappleford is a quintessentially English country village, whose inhabitants consist of - amongst others - manipulative aristocrats, a Northern baker with a shameful secret and a struggling American actor. It's the 59th annual Whitsuntide village fête and new girl, Bethany, has come to stay with her Aunt and is helping out at the tea tent. Over the course of an eventful day, Bethany gets to meet the locals, fall in love, solve a crime and break a heart. As the fête draws to a close, she has to make a decision; should she stay or should she go? Cross 'Miss Marple' with 'The Muppet Show', add a twist of 'The League of Gentlemen', and the result is A Fete Worse Than Death. This comic solo show combines quick-fire character changes, charming sock-puppetry, a cavalcade of idiosyncratic characters and a mysterious trail of iced buns to tell the story of a village fête like no other.
