Details

In an epic performance of majesty, humour and passion, one of Europe's leading storytellers tells the story of The Birth of Sundiata, legendary founder of the great Malian Empire in West Africa. Featuring hunters and kings and women of power, this is one of the most exciting birth-of-a-hero tales in the world! This is the first piece that Jan Blake and Cote d'Ivoire born virtuoso musicians Kouame Sereba and Raymond Sereba have co-created, following a commission from Festival at the Edge Storytelling Festival in 2009. It has been performed to high acclaim at Oslo Storytelling Festival, the Barbican and Hay on Wye Literature Festival 2012, ahead of this national tour. Suitable for ages 14+
