T01016319148This black comedy is a unique promenade experience staged in the labyrinthine complex beside the Pleasance Theatre. In October 2009 a pharmaceutical corporation’s Islington laboratory ("The Institute") fell victim to a major industrial accident. Full details of what happened and the fate of those involved was never disclosed. Rumour and innuendo abound: unethical experimentation, a new plague, the dead walking... One year on, and in the face of struggling British industry an incoming government has bailed-out the corporation, nationalising The Institute. Facing public scrutiny the newly appointed Minister invites the public to examine the Government’s new acquisition close-up, and to see for themselves the hands-on role the new administration is taking. In the company of politicians and clean-up crew, audience members will be amongst the first to enter this terrifying ruin. But in the shadows, other forces seek to uncover The Institute’s secrets for their own ends. And something is stirring in the dark. Something has survived...Producer Amy Smith.
