Ever fallen. No matter. Try again. Fall again. Fall better. As the winner of the inaugural Sculpture Shock (Ambulatory) award, run by the Royal British Society of Sculptors, Sharrocks will undertake a summer-long residency On Falling at a studio in Chelsea. As part of the residency she will hold a series of workshops in May, which will explore the shock of being out of control, the liberation of inelegance, the risk of pain and the jarring of speed changes all inherent in falling. Approaching accidents, catastrophe and the potential of flying (for a little while only), Sharrocks is attempting to construct an anatomy of falling, and on 8 June is setting out an open invitation to fall in the safe environs of World's End Place. Amy Sharrocks is a live artist, sculptor and film-maker who invites people to come on journeys in which their own experience, communication and expression are a vital part. With humour, risk and joy, she introduces fantastic visions within the everyday, and the bravery and invention of people's responses produces work that is rich and unpredictable.
