Forth Dimension

Work:: Forth Dimension (S717948172)

Production:: (T0214389987)

Pegasus Theatre presents the last production in their Year of Science and Art programme for the Oxfordshire Seasons of Science festival. Oxford Youth Theatre (OYT) Companies and adult drama group Platypus Theatre present Fourth Dimension at Oxford School. Caring for Lear is the OYT Theatre Company's, adaptation of the Shakespeare classic exploring the physical and mental effects of ageing in our celebrity, youth-obsessed culture. With the help of eminent psychiatrists Lilian Hickey and Klause Ebmeier the company have created a piece that holds up a mirror exposing the negative view of the elderly held by modern society. OYT Dance Company offers two pieces. Within The Moment looks at health from an unusual perspective. Dancers become patients and viruses and uncover the emotional and physical effects on people with an incurable virus - the waves of illness rippling out to their social circles. The second piece, Walking on Eggshells, is from a performance and workshop project that recently toured to local primary schools. Created with Oxford Family Mediation, the company performed and led workshops with primary school students, looking at the effects of family separation on young people. "The science and art theme has stretched the imagination of the youth companies. They have worked closely with scientists and built relationships that enrich the work, gain new perspectives and a deeper understanding" Yasmin Sidhwa. Fourth Dimension has been designed and stage managed by the OYT Production Company. The 14 to 19 year olds will be accompanying the two performance companies on their overseas travels to international festivals later this year to act as technicians and crew for the shows in Russia and France. In A Stitch In Time, Pegasus’ adult drama group Platypus Theatre, investigates time - how we mark it, what it looks like, how we could store it, how it shifts and what we would do with it if we had more of it. Fourth Dimension has been produced with the support of the Pegasus team - Head of Creative Learning Yasmin Sidhwa, Youth Arts Leader Angharad Phillips, dancer/choreographer Allan Hutson and dancer Nicola Moses, tutor Emma Webb theatre designer Nomi Everall and Technical Manager Dave Thwaites.
