Details

Prokofiev's opera based on Valentin Katayev's novel I, the Son of the Working Class. The patriotic work, written in 1940 after 20 years away from Russia, follows a young man who returns from World War 1 to the newly Communist Ukraine. The work still managed to offend the authorities.
