A Silly Bugger Artist's Life a the Taxpayers Expense - T1221160922

An evening with films, performance and the maestro himself. Now at the age of 84 he takes you through his tales of adventure, on a voyage of discovery through his life. He began his working life as a bank clerk. Joining the navy in 1944, he developed TB a year later and taught himself to draw while recuperating (projecting willies on the walls of the hospital ward). Subsequent studying of painting at the Royal College of Art opened up his world to performance art that led to him sawing a woman in half, dancing with a dummy and making films. He has worked with The Goons, Michael Bentine and The Alberts, creating sculptures and building robots along the way. A man married twice, with nine children who will never grow up, he'll always be a "silly bugger".
