Dark Sun

Work:: Dark Sun (S1649660627)

On Monday, August 6, 1945 a single American B-29 Superfortress bomber, the Enola Gay, dropped an atomic bomb on the city of Hiroshima. Written in 1995 in response to the event, Stephen Montague s Dark Sun is an astonishing tour-de-force, combining singers, instrumentalists and tape recordings into a moving song of lamentation for the dead. This performance, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the dropping of the atomic bomb, will be given by an all-comers ensemble under the direction of the composer. Pieces from local composers will complete an unmissable evening.
