Gypsy History Month - Gala Performance

Work:: Gypsy History Month (S01442397359)

Production:: Gala Performance (T0169141442)

An event for all ages and all tastes combines history and art, theatre and dance, childrens and adult performances. Join us for an amazing celebration of modern Gypsy, Roma and Traveller culture. Including the first public performance of Isaac Blake’s ‘Lavior’ - dark and menacing, this powerful piece explores 300 years of oppression through contemporary dance and haunting melody - indescribable. See the traditional dancing of Kathleen Cassidy and the Hip-Hop dance moves of Daniel Flynn, while Daniel Morden will be inviting our younger (and not so young) participants to take part in his fairy storytelling. Dr Colin Clark from Glasgow University will be talking about the history of travelling peoples and this event will also feature performances and art by children from Newport schools.

CORONAVIRUS: All venues in the UK were shut down on March 16, 2020, and the restrictions were finally lifted on July 19, 2021. It is important to mention that the UK Theatre Web archive listings (iUKTDb) from March 2020 to July 2021 might not be accurate due to the lack of information regarding rescheduled and cancelled shows.
