A weekend in the life of Riley - George Riley, would-be inventor. Maintaining respect is tough: his wife barely seems to notice any more and he is supported financially by his daughter who considers him half barmy. So, having invented a new kind of envelope, George Riley attempts to leave his humdrum life behind him. Whilst he escapes to the pub for a final celebratory drink, his daughter, Linda, is preparing to elope on a motorcycle with her latest boyfriend. But can life really be that easy? And do Linda and her father have more in common with each other than they imagine? Tom Stoppard is known for his clever and witty wordplay in such plays as "Rosencrantz and Guildernstern are Dead", "The Real Thing", "Arcadia", and the Oscar winning film "Shakespeare in Love". This, his first play (originally produced for television), is no exception - full of eccentric characters and conversations even in the midst of everyday situations.
