Welcome to Serene archiveA small coastal town facing extinction. A big machine. Welcome to Serene! The musical takes you into the weird world of a small town called Serene, along with its zany inhabitants. With daily avalanches of sand burying everything at ground level, the residents rely on 'The Machine' - the town's answer to the threat of extinction, by sucking in sand from the beach and spitting it back into the ocean. But not everything is as simple as it seems... As the tides rise and the sand piles high; Serene may be on the verge of the greatest catastrophe it has ever faced. Will The Machine be ready? With inspiration drawn from Dr Seuss and Tim Burton, Welcome to Serene holds up a mirror to the strangeness of our society's response to existential threat, through the medium of folk music, song and storytelling.
