Hermes is the link between dark and light, the subconscious and the conscious, his superb communication skills eventually landing him the top job as messenger of the gods. He invented the lyre, and hence lyrics and lyricism, and from an early age found he was able to charm all around him with his gifts of music and poetry including his father Zeus, big brother Apollo, and the enchanting Hecate.
