Big City archiveBig City tells the story of two Nineteenth Century pickpockets' attempts to swindle their way out of the control of London's criminal underworld. The plot hinges around the attempt to blackmail a leading politician by exposing his liaison with a prostitute. The prize being a sizeable campaign fund the politicians hoping to use to bribe the electorate. Tom and Maggie are chosen to carry out the plot and are expected to share the spoils with their boss, Mr Henshaw. Risking his retribution and the scrutiny of the police they abandon this part of the plan and decide to keep the rewards for themselves.
