The Suitcase - Losing Famagusta
Work:: The Suitcase (S0825965810)
What do you take with you when forced to leave your home because of war? Which items and memories do you pack? On 13 August 1974 Lorna Eleonora Vassiliades began a new diary titled Dramatic Days. Exactly 50 years later, she revisits her past as a child refugee, in a heartfelt embodiment of loss. This poignant journey of diaspora begins in London followed by Essex in the 60s, and continues to the Eastern Mediterranean coastal town of Famagusta, Cyprus in the 70s. Lorna, a once lonely and bullied child, finds belonging and joy in her parents' hometown, only for this to be abruptly stolen by the Turkish invasion. Expect a deeply moving solo theatre show about personal and collective trauma, that is a call for justice and peace for all.
