Production:: (T01144274458)

Stand Up for Dance is the final event in The Place’s Reaching for the Stars appeal, a year-long campaign to raise over 1m for the construction of two new studios for use by professionals, students and the local community. Comedian Ian Stone brings together the UK’s top comics, including Omid Djalili, Sean Lock and Stewart Lee, for a one-off evening of live comedy on Sunday 6 July in aid of The Place, the UK’s premier centre for contemporary dance. Stand Up for Dance is the final event in The Place’s Reaching for the Stars appeal, a year-long campaign to raise over 1m for the construction of two new studios for use by professionals, students and the local community. Stone, whose children attend The Place’s Young Dancers Saturday Programme, will compère the event which also features Stephen K Amos and Lee Mack. All of the comics are frequent TV performers and top-of-the-bill names on stand-up circuit, and no less than four were included in Channel 4’s recent poll of the 100 Greatest Stand Ups Ever. When Stone offered to organise the event, he did not expect that such an incredible line-up to come together.
