Gintersdorfer/Klassen (Germany) - Logobi 05

Work:: Gintersdorfer/Klassen (Germany) (S1449503910)

Production:: Logobi 05 (T0193168081)

UK Premiere. The most recent in a series of duets initiated by Monika Gintersdorf and Knut Klaßen, Logobi 05 is a brilliant and entertaining meeting of different cultures and contexts. Richard Siegal, formerly a dancer with William Forsythe’s Ballet Frankfurt, meets Frank Edmond Yao from the Ivory Coast for a lively and informal discussion and exchange of each other‘s dance forms. Using movement and dialogue, the dancers create a bridge for their dance cultures to be shared with some lighthearted collisions along the way. The result is an enlightening and often hilarious demonstration of various movement styles from Ivory Coast streetdance, including Logobi itself, to the contemporary dance techniques in which Siegal is steeped. Yao‘s and Siegal’s intense physicality is arresting, their generous enthusiasm infectious and the journey with them one worth taking.
