Lola Perrin - and Guest Vocalist Natacha Atlas

Lola Perrin

Work:: Lola Perrin (S131667643)

Production:: and Guest Vocalist Natacha Atlas (T1609019375)

A concert featuring Lola Perrin, hailed as 'a feminine Steve Reich' (Radio France), in an exploration of new collaborations. Tonight's programme begins with solo piano, moving on to a piano duet setting jazz improvisation against minimalist patterns, and the combining of acoustic and electronics with narration. The second half presents Maxwell and Hashim's Going East, a 45-minute feast of film and piano accompaniment with guest vocalist Natacha Atlas that takes us from London's East End to Asia in a touching portrait of struggle and humanity. 'Lola Perrin's inspirations seem to lie somewhere between the ecstasies of Keith Jarrett's early 70s solo improvisations and the delicate proto-minimalism of Cage's "In a Landscape": even Philip Glass' solo piano works come to mind.' (BBC)
Performer Roland Perrin (piano)
Performer Kate Shortt (cello)
Performer Sarah Watts (bass clarinet)
Performer Alexis Kirke (electronics)
Performer Jonathan Bonnici (narrator)
Performer Phil Maxwell (filmmaker)
Performer Hazuan Hashim (filmmaker)
