Sadler's Wells Sampled features world class artists who present snippets of their work on the Sadler's Wells main stage over two days. With tickets for just ?12 or ?6 proms standing, Sadler's Wells Sampled invites everyone to enjoy dance. Alongside the performances audience members can also participate in an array of beginners' workshops throughout the day on Saturday 29 January, with styles on offer including ballet, contemporary, street dance, flamenco and contemporary ballet. Free pre and post show street dance classes also take place around both evenings' performances. A highlight of the main stage line-up is the work of British choreographer and winner of Sadler's Wells online Global Dance Contest, James Wilton. After entering 2010's competition, Wiltonbeat off tough competition coming from 30 different countries and won the online public vote to be rewarded with the coveted prize of ?2000 and the chance to present his piece, The Shortest Day,on the Sadler's Wells stage at Sampled. Sadler's Wells Online Global Dance Contest runs annually until 2012, when Wilton and the other winners of the competition from around the world will be invited to perform their work in London during the Olympic year. The third year of Sadler's Wells online Global Dance Contest opens on Monday 30 January 2011, when dancers and choreographers are invited to upload their entries via YouTube at www.globaldancecontest.com. Sadler's Wells Sampled features an extract from ZooNation's brand new work, Some Like It Hip Hop, marking the company's first performance at the theatre since becoming a Sadler's Wells Resident Company in June 2010. Zoonation has recently received a nomination for the Critics' Circle National Dance Award 2010 for Outstanding Company, becoming the first ever hip hop company to be nominated in this category. Adding to the main stage performances is critically acclaimed contemporary dance piece Faun, by Belgian choreographer and Sadler's Wells Associate Artist Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui. Following its world premiere at Sadler's Wells in October 2009 as part of In the Spirit of Diaghilev, Faun has received a nomination for the Critics' Circle National Dance Award 2010 for Best Modern Choreography. Cherkaoui's versatile choreography is exemplified this Spring in Shoes at the Peacock Theatre and in Dunas, a collaboration with Maria Pag?s which was awarded Best Show in the prestigious Giraldillos Prize by the direction of the XVI Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla in October 2010. Completing the Sadler's Wells Sampled line-up are dancers from leading ballet company American Ballet Theatre, who perform a pas de deux prior to the company's visit to Sadler's Wells from 1 - 6 February, and Balletboyz, who perform haunting ensemble piece Alpha. Alpha features in the mixed bill of work performed in Balletboyz' The Talent from 29 March - 2 April 2011.
