Prom 45 - BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra

Prom 45

Work:: Prom 45 (S5976)

Part of the BBC Proms.

Production:: BBC Scottish Symphony Orchestra (T995460347)

Marking the 75th anniversary of the BBC Scottish SO, this packed concert recreates the night in 1962 when the orchestra first came to the Proms. A pair of Russian favourites is joined by Liszt’s punchy First Concerto, in which Boris Berezovsky adds his name to the week’s line-up of distinguished pianists. The only alteration from the original programme is that the new piece on that occasion - by Thea Musgrave (who has a commission later this season) - is replaced with a new work by another Scot, James Dillon (60 this year). Finish time: approx. 22:20
Conductor Martyn Brabbins
