Prom 31 - Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Brahms

Prom 31

Work:: Prom 31 (S356)

Part of the BBC Proms.

Production:: Anne-Sophie Mutter plays Brahms (T01094609158)

In 1999 young Arab and Israeli musicians came together for the groundbreaking creative and social experiment that was the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. A quarter of a century later, the ideals of listening, respect and mutual understanding enshrined in this ensemble are underlined like never before. For this timely Prom, the orchestra and its co-founder Daniel Barenboim bring with them Brahms's consolatory Violin Concerto featuring soloist Anne-Sophie Mutter and the monolithic, momentum-fuelled symphony by Schubert that deservedly acquired the nickname 'Great'. There will be an interval
