The Cunning Little Vixen

The Cunning Little Vixen

Work:: The Cunning Little Vixen (S1896)

Lyrics by Janacek after Tesnohlidek. Title can also be translated as The Adventures of Vixen Sharp Ears. The adventures of the Vixen as she escapes captivity, finds a mate, gives birth and dies represent the universal cycle of life, played out with a supporting cast of birds and insects. The creatures of the forest and farmyard are tellingly compared with the human community to create a moving yet optimistic reflection on the challenges and joys of existence.
Music Leos Janacek

Once again puppetry will play a major role in this production, and we are delighted that DarrenEast returns as Puppetry Consultant. Darren, Stuart and Simon not only worked together on the innovative puppetry for The Little Green Swallow but as a trio they also form Third Hand, the award winning Puppet Opera Company. This adds a whole new dimension to the training opportunities for the singers and production trainees, as well as to the theatricality of the production itself.
