Based on the ancient Indian folktale of Kora and his sister, Four Ladders, Seven Brothers and a Couple of Brooms combines traditional Indian folklore with the thrills of a martial arts movie. The show brings vividly to life a cautionary tale of love and passion, incest and murder, in which a family turns on its most vulnerable members - echoing a universal theme in folklore from Europe's Hansel and Gretel to China's The Golden Reed Pipe. The characters each draw on virtuoso martial arts skills and, apart from Kora, but including his father and six brothers, are all played by women.
