Ben Brailsford: My Fortnum and Mason Hell
Work:: Ben Brailsford: My Fortnum and Mason Hell (S1710899552)
A true story of peaceful protest, political policing and bassoonists. On 26 March 2011 classical bassoonist Ben Brailsford participated in a peaceful anti-cuts protest at the upmarket London grocer Fortnum & Mason. He was arrested and held in a police cell for 24 hours, fed on baked beans and boiled potatoes and given a three-day-old copy of The Sun to read. Finally, he was charged with Aggravated Trespass and set free on bail. This is his story. And the crazy but true story of over 100 fellow peaceful protesters arrested that day. With bassoon accompaniment, this London performance is timed to coincide with the first trial of the Fortnum protesters, which opens on 9 November.
