The Straw Chair
T2060933432
It's a stormy start to eighteenth century marriage for 17-year-old Isabel and her minister husband Aneas, who arrive from Edinburgh onto the remote island of Hirta (St. Kilda). There they find Lady Grange, banished to the island and desperate to return to civilisation, who tells the young bride unfamiliar stories of betrayal and abduction. As Isabel uncovers alarming similarities, battling between youthful exhilaration and the danger of being too troublesome a wife, Lady Grange clings with tragic dignity to the one thing she has left in the world - an old straw chair.
