The Anniversary - preparations for a Bank's fifteenth anniversary are reduced to chaos by the depredations of a misguided elderly petitioner and the Chairman's young wife. The Proposal - Lomov's proposal for the hand of his neighbour Natasha threatens to come to grief in a welter of petty argument.
