On the eve of her marriage, Sita, a young village girl is kidnapped. She manages to escape and befriends Lakshman/Laksmi, an entertainer, earning a living from his performances as a woman. Disguised as a man, Sita discovers the freedom of being a man in a male chauvinistic Indian society. Together these two cross-dressed protagonists travel the fascinating Indian roads and the journey is an exploration of the their growing emotional and physical relationship. But who is the man? Who is the woman? Does the woman that he is become the man of her dreams?
