1850 - Saint-Pierre, a forgotten small French island near Canada. A man is found guilty of murder and condemned to death, but there will be a long wait before a guillotine can be despatched from mainland France. In the meantime the prisoner is placed under the custody of the Captain and awaits his execution with humility - but his wife believes that good lies in the heart of every man and tries desperately to change the sentence. When the guillotine does arrive - justice must be done...? A stunning and tragic period love story from the greatest names in French cinema today.
