Saigon, 1952 - a beautiful, exotic and mysterious city caught in the grip of the Vietnamese war of liberation from the French colonial powers. A new arrival, an idealistic American aid worker befriends a disenchanted London Times Correspondent and the two of them become involved in a tempestuous love triangle with the Englishman's beautiful young Vietnamese mistress. The tangled relationship lead to a series of startling revelations in this adaptation of Graham Greene's classic and prophetic story of love, betrayal and, finally, murder, played out against events which originated the American war in S E Asia.
