Set amongst the Indian community in 1940s Trinidad, this beautifully filmed Ismail Merchant movie from VS Naipaul's book follows the fortunes of Ganesh, an aspiring writer who discovers his gift for psychic healing but encounters trouble when he gets involved in colonial politics.
