Director Wayne Wang apparently always wanted to make a sex film, and while The Centre of the World definitely has a lot of sex in it, what it's actually about is the triumph of heart and brain over genitalia. When a geeky dotcom millionaire proposes that a stripper he meets at a lap-dancing club spends an all-expenses weekend with him in Las Vegas, the girl lays down some rules about what they will and won't do. But rules are for fools when bodies get hot and both characters are soon exposing more of themselves than they bargained for.
