The Orpheus Centre is an accessible performing arts complex in Godstone, Surrey founded by Richard Stilgoe in 1997. Last year its students performed at Glastonbury, the Done and Notting Hill Carnival. Orpheus shows are devised by the cast during an intensive week before the performance. Richard Stilgoe along with Jeremy James Taylor, artistic director of the National Youth Music Theatre, will direct the show for the Linbury Studio Theatre. Richard Stilgoe writes, "In 1607 Claudio Monteverdi wrote Orfeo and made operatic history. In 2001, Orpheus makes history again by bringing disabled performers to the Linbury Studio Theatre at the Royal Opera House for the first time."
