Safe

Work:: Safe (S349522714)

Set in present day Manhattan, Safe is about two disenfranchised teenagers with influenza... too much money and time, while also confused by issues of body image and parental neglect. Nina is overweight, has a mother in rehab and an absent father. She falls under the influence of Phillip, a kind but mysterious older man she meets in a coffee shop. Her anorexic best friend is just out of hospital and harbours plans to kidnap her own baby niece... and she is both deeply suspicious and desperately jealous of Phillip. Both girls find themselves in a very scary world. In this dark and edgy play, Jackson examines two troubled young women who reach out to a stranger.. and the consequences of trusting and falling in love with the wrong person.
Author Penny Jackson
