Para Handy's Treasure

Work:: Para Handy's Treasure (S1827583720)

Adapted from Para Handy Tales by Neil Munro, which followed the adventures of the skipper and crew of The Vital Spark, a pufffer or coastal tramp steamer, as it plied its trade all along the West Coast. This play takes these tales as its inspiration but also draws upon other sources, traditional music, TV and Radio adaptations and Scotland's popular Music Hall culture, largely forgotten by a generation. It is also set against the background of the idyllic scenery of the West Coast of Scotland, the Firth of Clyde and the Hebrides. An epic tale; a journey without end, the play brings traditional Highland values into sharp modern focus and tugs at many an emotional heart-string.
