Ephemera/A Contratiempo/O Lungo Drom/Killing Charity - T0685575099

Lamat Dance A Contratiempo - Lamat Dance Company under the direction of Chilean/Spanish choreographer Carmen Vilches will perform their new work A Contratiempo where flamenco dance vocabulary meets the rhythms of Latin America. A Contratiempo is a quartet performed by two flamenco and two contemporary dancers. The dancers use different parts of the body to translate the footwork of the 'compás' (flamenco rhythm) challenging traditional structures. The result is a piece in which the two different dance disciplines combine to complement and enrich one another creating a compelling piece of powerful percussion. Performed with live music, A Contratiempo is a recent commission by The Place Prize. Jean Abreu O Lungo Drom -This solo work by the Jerwood Award winner, Jean Abreu is inspired by ideas of migration. O Lungo Drom (Romany for 'The Long Road') expresses a physical and internal journey in the quest for identity and sense of belonging in a world that is on the move. Jean’s movement language is drawn from his roots in Latin dance combined with elements of Capoeira and Contemporary dance. Jean is an associate artist at The Place, and his new work 'Urge' was commissioned for the Place Prize in september2004.
