Carducci String Quartet - T0850304977All tonight's musicians are making a welcome return to the Club, but in a different combination. Roderick Williams is one of today's most distinguished singers, both in opera and in recital. Tom Poster, recently heard at the Club as pianist of the Aronowitz Ensemble, has established himself as a sensitive and passionate interpreter of an extensive repertoire. Doric String Quartet - T1825366549Described by the Gramophone as ?one of the ?nest young string quartets', whose members are ?musicians with fascinating things to say', the Doric String Quartet has received glowing responses from audiences and critics across the globe. Their Korngold recording was that magazine's Critic's Choice 2010; the German Ensemble magazine described it as ?inspirational in every way'. Their recent Schumann Quartets were ?Disc of the Month' in the December 2011 editions of both BBC Music Magazine and Gramophone, thus becoming the ?rst recording to have ever received both accolades simultaneously! T01048891353Paul Lewis is internationally recognised as one of the leading pianists of his generation. His many awards include the Royal Philharmonic Society's Instrumentalist of the Year, two Edison Awards and three Gramophone awards. His concert performances and recordings of the complete Beethoven Sonatas, Concertos and the Diabelli Variations have earned him unanimous acclaim, culminating in 2010 with the honour of becoming the ?rst pianist in the history of the BBC Proms to perform all ?ve Beethoven Concertos in a single Proms season. After two previous acclaimed recitals for the Club (as part of his Beethoven Sonata cycle), in 2011 Paul Lewis embarked upon a two-year project to perform all the mature piano works from the last six years of Schubert's life.
