Dream Regime

Work:: Dream Regime (S1529471257)

Production:: (T05067196)

Gekidan Kaitaisha are one of Japan’s most influential experimental theatre groups, who began the Dream Regime project at Chapter in 2004. This collaboration with local performers investigated the hidden histories of cultural diversity and migration through the 20th century and led towards a series of performances and residencies in Jordan, Poland, Brazil, East Timor and Japan. Using dialogue and theatre, the company studied structures and gestures seen across the world and their relation to the human body; and examined the idea of social exclusion and what may be considered ‘non-human’. The company returns to Chapter to present a collaborative performance that reflects on the Dream Regime project so far. Kaitaisha (literally meaning ‘theatre of deconstruction’) create performances with a keen and impressive focus, sometimes uncomfortable to watch, that nevertheless attempt to deconstruct the forces, both political and philosophical, that can affect lives.
