An emotionally haunting tale with superb performances well deserving their Oscar nominations for Best Actor (Tom Wilkinson ) and Best Actress Sissy Spacek). This is the story of a Maine doctor and his wife who teaches a high school chorus group, who are forced to struggle with the grief and emotional bludgeoning that comes their way when their son becomes involved with an older woman.
