At the end of the Second World War, Hilary Hall Boys boarding school is told they must share their premises with another school evacuated from their bombed out buildings. Due to a Ministry of Education error the re-allocated school is St. Swithins school for girls. The scene is set for a hilarious battle of the sexes, and just when the head teachers think things couldn't get any worse, the parents arrive.
