Four people gather in the village hall to plan and prepare for the Christmas Show. They squabble, philosophise, practise songs, and tell stories until finally they are ready for a glimpse of what future Christmases may hold as Jacob Marley's ghost drags them kicking and screaming across the footlights and into the opening night.
