Marcel
Work:: Marcel (S1253560334)
This dada inspired performance is an attempt to create a dialogue between theatre and contemporary world as a ready-made, famous interceptions of the "Ruby's case" which takes place in Italy of Berlusconi during the time of his involvement with an underage Moroccan girl. Marcel, however, is not a performance about Berlusconi. The Italian ex Prime Minister and his politics are a mere means to illustrate the contemporary world through grotesque and absurd. Apart from the use of ready-made, the performance is permeated by images and themes from the dada movement: the stage is invaded by half-machine men and prostitutes, as in a post-war reality. Marcel is an outcry of grief. The performance is set during a black-out which lasts for months on end. The situation makes people rethink about the concept of evolution. It's a performance of rebel monkeys, hung dictators and double-faced opera singers.
