10 new plays by ten new playwrights.

Production:: The Journey Home (T762299811)

The University of Birmingham's MRes Playwriting course is, in short, the most prestigious playwriting degree in the country. Founded by David Edgar and boasting alumni such as Sarah Kane, the Birmingham MRes pulls together some of the best new playwrights from the UK and abroad. Together they study the theory and craft of writing plays, right here in the Second City. Now, in a new initiative to bring their writing out into the professional arena, this year's crop bring ten - yes 10! - exciting new plays to the Old Joint Stock. What's more, you can see them all on one night for just £5. First seen at the University of Birmingham's Cultural Festival 2013, 10x10 comprises ten, ten-minute plays by ten of the hottest new writers, performed by a professional company assembled especially for the event. Come and join us for a new take on the (second) oldest journey.

CORONAVIRUS: All venues in the UK were shut down on March 16, 2020, and the restrictions were finally lifted on July 19, 2021. It is important to mention that the UK Theatre Web archive listings (iUKTDb) from March 2020 to July 2021 might not be accurate due to the lack of information regarding rescheduled and cancelled shows.
