Henry Gillespie is a widower living with his brother-in-law and two grown up sons in blissful harmony. When Henry decides to propose to Stella Morley, his housekeeper sets out to thwart his amorous intentions. Add to this Stella's obnoxious daughter Vanessa and the arrival of Uncle Fred's long lost love Violet McKinstry together with the boys two 'girl-friends' Babs and Helga and the ingredients are there for a pot pourri of Sam Cree comedy.
