Information for Scottish Ballet - Twice-Bron at Sadler's Wells Theatre, Inner London (Dance or ballet). Twice-Born is a Scottish Ballet commission by Olivier-Award-winning choreographer, composer, and world-renowned dancer, Dickson Mbi, celebrated for blending the physicality of hip-hop with the fluidity of contemporary dance. Set in a timeless mythical world where matriarchal figures are sacrificed and reborn, the large ensemble of dancers move with breathtaking synchronicity, creating an awe-inspiring visual and aural spectacle. The evening opens with Schachmatt (Checkmate!), a high-energy ballet by acclaimed choreographer Cayetano Soto. This 20-minute piece, inspired by Bob Fosse, Pedro Almodóvar and Joan Rivers, features dancers performing with razor-sharp precision and humour on a giant chessboard, to a retro pop soundtrack.
