Phil Booth's three short plays (two monologues and a duologue) share a common underlying theme of gay love, but these are not "gay" plays nor are they at all the same, the theme merely acts to link them into a more coherent whole.
These are three different stories, a decorator offered money to satisfy a fantasy, an older man seeing the futility of his relationship with a younger and one who has hidden his feelings for years - four very different characters presented to us by Clive Duncan and Winston J Pyke over the 75 minutes that the show lasts.
These are well presented plays, a good production but perhaps in need of some more shape and subtelty in performance. Intimate spaces like the Alma require barely a flicker from the actors to be readable by an audience and stillness is a powerful thing up close as the second piece shows. I'm sure it will settle into itself as the perforrmances continue and this is certainly a good night out.
