I've always had a soft spot for Restoration comedy so I was really looking forward to this - though sometimes such shows can be a bit overlong.
No problem here. Sheridan's masterpiece lampooning polite society has been tightened up and given a fresh face making for an hilarious evening of fun.
Fast, funny and beautifully controlled, this is a production to savour. A beautiful set provides the backdrop and changes without pausing the story so we are able to get really carried along a-pace. Lucy Briggs-Owen's Lydia is an absolute hoot as the petulant teen and Julie Legrand carries of Mrs Malaprop with huge aplomb ("Men are all Bavarians!").
The cast are kept busy making the time fly by for the appreciative audience with a host of well pointed and memorable perforrmances; Bob Meno as Acres and Keith Dunphy as O'Trigger in particular but the whole cast were on tip top form.
What a gorgeously daft evening of theatre - I loved it
